Our goal is to ensure that existing long-term residents, especially those who need support the most, have a place to live today and in the future at reasonable rental rates.
We continue to work with the various levels of government and community agencies to develop those plans and will engage with the current long-term residents when we have more information about potential long-term options.
At this time, we are focused on providing support for residents living in the buildings impacted by the next phase of the redevelopment. For timeline information on the redevelopment phases, please click here.
We are not able to make a commitment about existing residents’ options for living in the redeveloped community at below-market rental rates until we understand the government supports that could be provided.
We will continue to update existing residents of the buildings impacted during the next phase, and discussions will be held with impacted residents to provide additional information and answer questions.
In earlier phases, we have been able to offer residents the chance to relocate within Ocean Breeze Village. This was accomplished by holding units vacated through natural tenant attrition in later phases to provide these units to existing residents impacted by earlier phases. Unfortunately, this approach is no longer viable.
The following supports are being offered to residents that will be impacted by the next phase of the redevelopment.
Receive financial support to move out of Ocean Breeze Village
All impacted residents who confirm by June 30, 2025, their intent to depart Ocean Breeze any time before March 31, 2026, as required, will receive a payment equivalent to three months’ rent or the final 3 months of rent-free tenure, plus a one-time payment of Three Thousand Five Hundred dollars ($3,500.00) for extra support and relocation assistance. Please note that this offer exceeds what the Residential Tenancies Act (“the Act”) requires and is being offered as a gesture of goodwill.
We recognize the emotional and logistical challenges these changes pose can be overwhelming. Please know we sincerely care about your well-being and are here to support you. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work through these unsettling developments together.
